If you’re questioning the safety of dental pods for retainers, I would like to tell you that yes, dental pods are generally safe, specially if you choose the right ones. This comes from the fact that they use high frequency sound waves that are claimed to penetrate surface irregularities of retainers (and other appliances) to clean them.

Also, some other dental pods use U.V light that is suggested to further increase dental pods efficiency in removing debris and dirt.

Are dental pods effective?

In short, dental pods are effective in cleaning dentures, retainers and a wide variety of dental appliances. I’ll be honest, cleaning your appliance (retainer/denture ..) the normal way with traditional cleaning solutions is effective also, but using dental pods can save you much time and effort (they’re very convinient.

People who use dental pods are really happy with how easy it is to use them. They’re quick, quiet, and get the job done very well. They’re also great for elderly & children who may face difficulties in cleaning their own appliances by themselves, which can result in accidents (e.g. appliance brakes) that can be costy to be dealt with.

How long do you leave your appliance in the Dental Pod?

The answer to this question depends on the type of the dental pod you choose to buy. Different dental pods have different cleaning programs. However, the average cleaning programs last 5 minutes, which is again really amazing considering how clean your appliance will end up.

The cool thing also is that the covering of dental pods are mostly transparent, so you can see through them and enjoy the cleaning process that is hapening (can be satisfying to some people).

How to use them?

The process is simple. Just follow the following steps:

1- Open the lid of the pod, fill the inner tank with water and put your appliance.

2- Connect the power supply and touch/click on the switch button.

3- After the cleaning process finishes, open the lid, take your appliance out, pour the water and clean the inner tank.
